Meet Julie H. Rogers

Julie and Doyle Rogers began their life together in 1979, settling in a small town in Southwest Georgia. While Doyle continued his career at Firestone, Julie started her journey as a teacher in 1980.

Their greatest adventure began in 1982 with the arrival of their three children—two boys and a girl. Watching them grow was a joy, but it was hard for them to let go when the kids finally left home. Slowly, they learned to balance their children’s independence with their own renewed focus as a couple. The result of that journey? Two beautiful weddings and four wonderful grandchildren—two boys and two girls! They are, as Julie and Doyle will tell you, “the best grandparent pleasers.”

Colten realizes his brother, sister, and cousin will benefit immensely from learning about Poppy’s life experiences. He is thrilled that Poppy will be their teacher.

Julie and Doyle Rogers found writing this book to be both informative and enjoyable, and they believe readers of all ages will feel the same. It’s a story not just for children, but for everyone!

Colten And The Bullfrog Adventure

The adventure begins at Mema’s pond with a mission to visit Old Man Frog.

Through their journey, Colten discovers that his Poppy (Grandfather) possesses a wealth of knowledge about bullfrogs. More importantly, he learns a valuable life lesson: people who are older still have wisdom and valuable information to share, and this knowledge is best passed down to the younger generation.

In Elee and the Grubbing for Worms Adventure, Julie Houston Rogers brings to life the vibrant backyard world of two imaginative cousins, Colten and Elee, guided by their wise and playful Poppy and loving Mema. The story begins with Elee’s energetic arrival at her grandparents’ house, where her cousin Colten whisks her away on a backyard “safari.” Armed with a compass, binoculars, and sun hats, the duo explores colorful flowers, curious animals, and the towering “jungle” grass of Mema’s backyard.

Their greatest mission begins when Poppy teaches them how to “grub for worms”-a special way to gather bait for fishing by creating ground vibrations using a stob and a brick. Through dirt-smudged fingers, wriggling worms, and laughter, Elee learns about patience, nature, and the tiny world beneath our feet. Their adventure culminates in a family fishing trip, full of excitement, giggles, and Mema’s knowing smile as she watches them march off toward another unforgettable memory.
